SQL Server Web Data Administrator

This is a kewl move from Microsoft. I am excited to see a web version of the Mangement Studio for Administrators. Even though I have not explored this to the full. The interesting fact being ASP .NET 2.0 prrof-of-concept for sure :) ... I would want to get my hands dirty nevertheless. Catch the site here ...

From the domain name I guess we can find more tools to come our way. This is just my guess ...

xp_cmdshell: Is this required?

Yes, as a rule of thumb we say that for security reasons there is no need to actually have the extended SP. But more often than not the complete analysis needs to be done. This KB article describes in detail the effects of removing xp_cmdshell and the dependencies that need to be taken care. I would rate this as a good read ... Do take a minute to go over this ...

Microsoft Bangs the Privacy DRM
Even though the story of IE 7.0 is yet to catch fire. News will keep coming over this next product for sure. Anti-phishing, Virus software embedded etc are some of the posts over the internet. Even though I am not over the Beta testing / Alpha testing of this product I still feel we need to wait to hear from MS officially over the final list of features they plan to introduce. Anyways you can read a story here.
