Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA)
All mainframe migration resources now available at a single location. Microsoft will continue to maintain a page on the MMA website at http://www.mainframemigration.org. The main change here will be that the postings put on the MMA web site may link back to content on the mainframe page on Microsoft.com as opposed to the /casestudies page or the /downloads page, etc. The page where you can get all the mainframe resources is: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/mainframe/.

Why you shouldn't compress SQL Server data and log files

I am in awe to what Ken Henderson manages to write everytime. Let alone his books on SQL Server Internals or the MSDN articles he writes. It's amazing to just read his blogs ... The interesting part is it is free :).

I know people quote performance issues whist using compression for the data and log files. But here is a very classic and fantastic reply *technically* correct to take to neck deep into the problem. A worthy read and a worthy blog to add to your favourites.

Snippet Editor for Visual Basic

I like this addition ...

Are you eager to produce your own Visual Basic Code Snippets but prefer not to think in terms of angle brackets? The Visual Basic Snippet Editor is a Windows Forms application with UI for creating, editing, testing VB code snippets. You can specify snippet code and metadata (e.g., title, author, description, keyboard shortcut), replacement variables, and referenced assemblies. You can preview your snippet as it will appear when inserted into the code window, and you can even test whether it will compile.

Download it now.
