Its here!! After 112 years, we will get to see this spectacular celestial event. The
transit of venus is the event during which the planet Venus can be seen moving across the sun and this would be visible from the Earth. It is due to happen in 2012 again (after 8 years) and after that, after 112 years. So, if you missed it now (I did, since the day was very cloudy in Bangalore, India), you can still catch it in 2012. If not, bad luck :-) Hopefully, National Geographic and Discovery should have enough footage of this event.
I was browsing around the MSDN site recently and found that there is a new framework called Information Bridge Framework. Well, what is it?? IBF (not sure if this is an official short-form yet!!) is a set of tools and technologies that allow MS Office applications to seamlessly connect to enterprise systems and integrate with them. This would be very useful in situations wherein information workers are more comfortable in using Office systems and want some information from their enterprise systems without having to leave the Office environment.
Looks very interesting and have just downloaded the SDK and all related documents. Having worked with the Research Pane, Smart Documents, Smart Tags etc, the IBF looks very similar in its feature set, but I need to dig up more. Will do so in the near future and write some articles around it.
The whole of last week was very hectic. We had a bunch of delegates (not .NET!!) from our parent office and I had to spend quality time with them. Now that its all over, I'm back to doing some research on SQL and .NET. Hope to start writing articles soon again. Been laid back for some time now.
