Hectic Travel Plans
Have been travelling quite a lot this month. Doing a sort of mini globe trotting! Started off with Seattle, wherein we had an Executive Briefing meeting at Redmond. The focus was to understand the future stance of Microsoft on some of the technologies that we work with and what the overall roadmap is for these. The place where I stayed at Redmond was superb!! I've been there before and its called the Willows Lodge. Its a place that its around 25 miles away from the SeaTac airport and the surroundings are amazing. Most of the mornings are covered with fog and if you take a walk around, its just great, and cold! The rooms are pretty fabulous too and affordable also (compared to the other hotels where I've stayed). After spending a couple of days at Redmond, I came over to Boston to our head-office and its been work till now! Boston climate is quite fine and bearable. Not too cold!! Maybe I jumped the gun and got myself a nice fleece coat, which is currently a huge burden!. Post this, I'm scheduled to go to Charlotte, where we plan to do some outing with some of our folks there.
Chat on SQL Server Performance
Recently held an MSDN India Chat on SQL Server 2000 Performance and Internals with fellow MVP Vinod Kumar. The chat session focused on some tips and tricks that people can follow in their applications to ensure that SQL Server performs at its best. The session was well received and we had some interesting questions on peformance. From the session it felt that lot of people use Dynamic SQL based implementations to provide search features in their web-sites and this is an area of concern when it comes to performance management. There is an excellent article from Erland (SQL MVP) on how to manage and construct dynamic queries and its an excellent read. You can find the article here.
Implementing Security In .NET

My latest session in Bangalore was titled Implementing Security in .NET. The session was essentially going to concentrate on the Code Access Security Model of .NET and also have a brief discussion about Isolated Storage and Cryptography. When the session was initially allotted to me, I did not have much exposure to the security model of .NET, save for some initial reading I had done on it. But as I started preparing for the session, I realized what a powerful concept this is!! When I went for the session finally, I realized that not many people have worked on this topic and it was great fun to start from the basics and lay the foundation for the topic.

Based on my interest in this topic, I've started writing a series of articles on .NET security at my site. You can read these articles by visiting my site at: http://www32.brinkster.com/srisamp.
