How did I break Google Maps?

On my Windows Server 2008 laptop, if I open Google Maps in the browser this is what I get:

Everything is totally scrambled. It used to work just fine in IE8, but now it is completely broken. I've tried turning Emulate IE7 on and off, clearing my browser cache, etc, but nothing seems to fix it. I guess I'll have to go download Firefox to see if that fixes it.

It looks like a CSS file didnt load.

are you SURE it worked with IE8 before, because this is what it looked like when IE8 was first released. It's because IE8 is standards compliant but Google Maps is still assuming the regular IE bugs are present. Just search "ie8 google maps" to see examples that look just like yours.

I haven't been keeping up with IE8s specs. Glad to see it's finally standards compliant. Now everybody (Google obviously included) will have to determine what VERSION of IE you are using. If it's 8 then they can send it to the code that works in every other standards compliant browser (Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc...).
